20 February 2012

Well, that was a relief….LOADS OF GAMES OF FOOTYBALL TOOK PLACE THIS WEEKEND!! It’s been a few weeks since the lower leagues played their games, but you could hear the sigh of relief all over the UK, when the nation’s grassroots footballers woke up on Saturday morning to the sight of frost free grass!

We capitalised on this by adding a new slider onto our homepage…”Are you ready for the rain?” Yep, in typical UK style, as the threat of frozen pitches had finally passed it had been predictably replaced with the potential of waterlogged pitches instead!

Rain or wet pitches is always a challenge for any goalkeeper, and I have scribed a blog post with further advice (including how Vaseline can help!): http://bwgoalkeeping.blogspot.com/2011/11/goalkeeping-playing-in-rain.html

Rest assured that our products have been extensively trialled in the rain, and our Superior Pro Acqua Capo Goalkeeper Gloves even have fans that wear them all year round – the grip is just that good when kept wet, that they wear nothing else (in gloves obviously, they’d look a bit daft if they wore nothing else!). Add these to the Volley Rain Set, and training in the rain need never be feared again!

And just to end todays Blog, I just want to say a public congratulation to Gainsborough Trinity Goalkeeper Michael Emery, as he has just signed a contract to keep him at the Northolme for the rest of the season. Nothing unusual about that perhaps, except he made the step up into the Blue Square North League from outside the pyramid via Skegness Town, (where he ended up after being released by Rushden and Diamonds FC) It is notoriously difficult to climb back up the pyramid after dropping down, but he gives hope to all the young lads who feel the cruelty of rejection that, with a lot of hard work and dedication, you really can never say never! Well done Emmers!
