These so called experts and pundits, whom are throwing their opinions about all over the place, need to simply keep quiet unless they have achieved as much as the young Spaniard has already in his short 21 years. I appreciate that opinions sell newspapers or increase television ratings however, unless you have played professional football then what right does anyone have to label a professional sportsman as "rubbish”?

Anybody who has played professionally, even for just one game, has achieved far more than the millions of others voicing their thoughts – and yet they have the cheek to label these skilled athletes in the way they do!

I acknowledge that everyman and his dog has opinions, but I personally would only ever listen to the thoughts of those who have been there, done that and bought the T-Shirt or with those who can empathise with the position – fellow goalkeepers.

It has been very noticeable the support for De Gea from the Goalkeepers Union, and long may that continue. At 21 years of age and playing for the Worlds biggest club is already a heck of an achievement and I hope that he holds his head high and doesn’t allow the media to stall his career in the same way that they did with Paul Robinson and Ben Foster.

I wish that I had half the ability that De Gea possesses, and I hope that he blasts out his frustrations at the Carrington Training Ground with the first rate goalkeeper coach, Eric Steele.

Maybe he needs a change of goalkeeper gloves to boost his confidence…has anybody got his number?

David De Gea - maybe it's time for some new gloves?
