WarbyGK History

 

Autumn 2007 - The concept of Warby Goalkeeper Equipment is introduced by founder Bob Warby. Initial designs are sent away for production of samples.

January 2008 - Samples received and despatched across the UK for performance analysis by professional and semi professional goalkeepers

March 2008 - The first production glove, the Goleiro Pro-T goes on retail. Sales reach Slovenia, Canada and the USA amongst other countries.

May 2008 - WarbyGK launch a limited edition glove, the Goleiro Pro Legend Roll which successfully sells out 7 months ahead of predicted schedule.

June 2008 - The Goleiro Pro Escuro range is launched in the UK. The range features TotalSoft black latex as well as the favoured white TotalSoft latex.

Summer 2008 - Samples of the 2009 range are received and distributed via a network of goalkeepers for feedback and development.

WarbyGK recruit professional and semi-professional goalkeepers to endorse their gloves for the 2008/2009 season.

September 2008 - WarbyGK moves into a larger purpose built office space

December 2008 - Warby Goalkeeper Equipment undergoes a re-brand to be known as WarbyGK

January 2009 - The Portierre Pro range is launched in the UK, allowing WarbyGK to offer a glove for every goalkeeper at every level.

WarbyGK unveil their new logo to support the launch of the new range of goalkeeper gloves

February 2009 - WarbyGK sponsor competitions with WeekendWonders.co.uk providing prizes of Goalkeeper Gloves and also Professional Goalkeeper Coaching.

WarbyGK's sponsorship of TheGloveBag.com's Name That Goalkeeper competition begins it's 6 months spell.

WarbyGK donate 75 pairs of brand new gloves to the charity "Boots for Africa" to help disadvantaged children in Africa discover the art of goalkeeping.

April 2009 - WarbyGK Youth endorsee Leigh Overton of Grimsby Town FC wins the Puma Youth Alliance League Cup Final in a 2-1 win over QPR at Loftus Road

June 2009 - WarbyGK recruit 6 professional goalkeepers for the 2009/10 season:

- Adam Collin Carlisle United FC

- Nick Liversedge Darlington FC

- Leigh Overton Grimsby Town FC

- Danny Naisbitt Histon FC

- Simon Rayner Crawley Town FC

- James Bittner Salisbury City FC

July 2009 - Samples of the new "Legend" glove are received and despatched to professional and semi-professional goalkeepers for performance analysis

September 2009 - WarbyGK endorsee Joe Welch becomes the first goalkeeper to wear the brand in an International game, when he plays against Hungary in Budapest.

October 2009 - WarbyGK strengthen their stable of professional goalkeepers with the signing of Ian Dunbavin of League Two side Accrington Stanley.

Delivery of the Portiere Pro Legend's is received and offered exclusively pre-launch to the WarbyGK Facebook fan and group members.
