Monday 06 September 2010 06 September 2010 It has been just over a year now that I have been writing these blogs for WarbyGk, and I never thought that when I started there'd be as much to write about Goalkeeper Gloves as I have managed! It seems that every week there is a new story to tell, or a new development on the goalkeeping front that sometimes two blogs a week just don't seem enough! It was at this time last week that I made a monumental schoolboy error....I'd scheduled a call from USA and, forgetting it was Bank Holiday Monday, arranged to chat at about 0600. So, dogs walked and into the office as normal for six...no phone call, quarter past six, still nothing - checked the emails again just gone half six to find a message saying he's tried to call and is now off to bed. Strange, I thought, it's definitely not rung at this end so I checked the phone and it was dead! The blooming phone line had been unplugged over the weekend and I'm sat there like a right nugget on Bank Holiday Monday waiting a phone call that was never going to happen! I emailed my apologies and we will catch up later on this week....phone line permitting!! Proper schoolboy error! Speaking of overseas, we have two amazing contacts in Australia who have been working incredibly hard to establish the WarbyGK brand over there and one in particular is going the extra mile and is currently in discussions with potential A-League endorsees, so will will definitely be keeping our fingers crossed on that score! |

Thursday, 02 September 2010 A little insight..... The season is well and truly under way now (and don't we know it at WarbyGK - Sales are up week on week!) and we have already seen our fair mixture of goalkeeping heroes and villains - with many more to come over the next 40 weeks I'm sure. We follow the happenings very closely as part of our recruitment procedure for endorsees for WarbyGK, and we utilise our nationwide contacts with regards to who are the ones to watch and keep tabs on. As a business we have preference for the up and coming goalkeepers, and we aim to generate a mix of non-established and experienced lads in our stable however we have noticed that now we have a strong brand reputation, many goalkeepers expect that bit more from us than they did before! We always have to keep an eye on the ROI and have strict guidelines that we have learned to develop over the past three seasons, which sadly means that we have had to turn down many requests from professional goalkeepers who expect that little bit more....what is interesting though is that these goalkeepers then end up turning to our direct competitors, and when we look at their lists of endorsees can follow the paper trail when they wanted to wear WarbyGK Goalkeeper Gloves. As a little insight into our world, we get daily emails from goalkeepers wishing to receive free gloves and the majority of these aren't playing at any level above Step 7 of the Pyramid! There are several Pro's who contact us and stipulate what gloves and how many pairs they want to try but after we do a little bit of digging we find they are already contracted to another brand! It really has been an eye opener as my life (I think) is black and white and some of these requests for free gloves are comical. "Dear Mr Warby, I respect your brand and would like to be sent some for free to try...." Hmmm, so much respect that you aren't willing to buy any in the first place?.....Whew, rant over and I am so proud that we have thousands of happy and loyal customers who we will bend over backwards to look after and make sure that they are happy with our brand. |
